General Exercise Physiology

What is Exercise Physiology?

Exercise Physiology is an allied-health service that uses clinically prescribed exercise to help manage chronic conditions, injuries, disability, and age-related changes. Exercise Physiologists design and supervise safe, evidence-based exercise programs tailored to individual health needs.

What is the difference between an Exercise Physiologist and a Physiotherapist?

Both Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists are allied-health professionals, but they have different roles.
Physiotherapists primarily assess and treat acute injuries and pain, while Exercise Physiologists focus on long-term management and improvement through structured exercise, particularly for chronic conditions and ongoing health needs.

Is Exercise Physiology safe if I have a health condition?

Yes. Exercise Physiology is specifically designed for people with health conditions. All exercise is tailored, supervised, and progressed safely based on your medical history and current ability.

 Are group sessions supervised?

Yes. All group sessions are fully supervised by Accredited Exercise Physiologists. You are never left to exercise on your own.

How often are programs reviewed?

Programs are reviewed every 8–12 weeks to ensure exercises remain appropriate, safe, and effective, and to track progress toward your goals.
